Cruising Solo Is A Must-Try Experience

You’re the Captain

When traveling with a companion or in a group, there is always a bit of compromise you have to do. Someone in your party may have an interest in a particular excursion to a site that you have already been to on multiple occasions, for instance. But, as a solo cruiser aboard Regent, the only concessions you need to accommodate are your own. You have the freedom to create your own plans, both ashore and aboard, and at your pace.

Plenty of ‘Me’ Space

One of my personal favorite perks of being a solo guest is having a spacious suite all to myself. I can use every cherry wood hanger in my closet, and I can soak in my tub without worrying that I’m taking up too much time. My mini-fridge features my favorite selections and, as an early bird, I can have breakfast brought in-suite as soon as I wake up.

Richer Travel Experiences

However, traveling by yourself does not mean that you’re alone. The Onboard Social Hosts do an amazing job at organizing mixers and events for solo travelers. Anticipate daily invitations for dinners, sometimes joined by guest lecturers and officers. It is a wonderful way of meeting new people and making connections. Other joint events might consist of cocktails by the pool; spa pampering; dinners in specialty restaurants; and off-ship excursions.

Shore Excursions are also a great way of bonding with fellow guests. Plus, you can immerse yourself in the region’s culture and have more meaningful experiences, as locals may be more inclined to strike up a conversation with a solo traveler. This can lead to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the places you visit.
